We are currently supporting a Private Equity backed business who are looking for a Group Financial Accountant to take ownership of the Group Financial and Statutory Reporting requirements. You will lead this function for complex transactions which will include exposure to policies and assessments on varying M&A opportunities and integrations. You will review the central subsidiary accounts and reporting packs under the IFRS standards and varying local GAAP whilst taking ownership of the year-end and supporting ad-hoc audits.


Knowledgeable and responsive to the business needs and wants, with the ability to adapt accounting policies, procedures and financial reporting systems as required

Work cross-functionally to provide clear and concise accounting advice on significant and unusual transactions

Ensure all accounting risks are taken into consideration as part of the deal structuring process

Lead the preparation and presentation of the consolidated financial statements in accordance with IFRS and the Group’s accounting policies

Lead the preparation and presentation of monthly and quarterly consolidated P&L and Balance Sheet reporting for internal management reporting purposes, including undertaking consolidated balance sheet and P&L analytical reviews

Document the accounting treatment of significant contracts or transactions, particularly for those involving material management estimates and judgements and obtain timely sign-off from the Group Financial Reporting Manager and where appropriate, other department heads and external auditors

Reporting within FRS101

Interaction with regions on resolving accounting issues, including but not limited to technical accounting reviews of significant and unusual transactions, scheduling and leading periodic accounting issues calls.

Support the Group Financial Reporting Manager and the Head of Corporate Finance to ensure that debt compliance reporting is accurate and timely

Support the Group Financial Reporting Manager in ensuring the annual external audit is delivered within the agreed upon time-frame by taking responsibility for deliverables during the audit planning, fieldwork and completion phase

Scrutinise the completeness and accuracy of all inputs provided to external parties (e.g., valuation specialists). Furthermore, any significant judgements and estimates taken by third parties should also be scrutinised for reasonableness

Demonstrates the ability to work as part of a team, and a clear understanding of how assigned work responsibilities impact other processes and the work of other people, both within the immediate accounting team and wider finance team

Work to maximise effectiveness of team members in the function while building for the future

Actively developing skills of direct report through performance management and personal development plans

Be prepared to act as coach and mentor to colleagues both inside as well as outside the finance function


IFRS and UK GAAP/Local GAAP exposure
UK Corporation Tax exposure
Consolidations experience, from a multi-layer perspective
International exposure and reporting
Professional accountancy qualification, ideally an ACA from a Big 4 or top tier practice
High levels of personal integrity
Conscientious and able to focus on completing work to a consistently high standard
Flexible and positive approach to work
Excellent organisational and time-management skills; high attention to detail
Ability to work to tight deadlines and able to prompt others to ensure deadlines are achieved
Adaptable to working in a fast paced, ever-changing environment
