Experience: 4-6 years’ PQE
Location: Newcastle Upon Tyne – Hybrid
Salary: £63-70,000
Overview:
We are currently recruiting for a Commercial Litigation Associate Solicitor to join a dynamic, forward-thinking law firm based in the heart of Newcastle. This is an exciting opportunity to provide high-quality, business-focused legal solutions to clients, while delivering excellent service within a growing, supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Fee Earning & Client Service:
- Undertake fee-earning work accurately, reliably, and in accordance with the firm’s risk management and quality procedures.
- Deliver exceptional service to colleagues and clients, ensuring client relationships are nurtured and developed over time.
- Maintain proactive client management, regularly communicating with clients and internal teams. Ensure communication is timely, meets client expectations, and contributes to repeat business and referrals.
Business Development:
- Develop business by securing new clients and seeking further work from existing clients for both yourself and others.
- Participate in business development activities, cross-selling services across different practice areas.
- Identify and create new business opportunities and develop new work streams
Financial Management:
- Achieve financial targets by ensuring:
- Accurate time recording
- Realistic fee estimates and budgeting
- Timely billing and efficient cash collection
- Maximising financial performance through efficient working practices
Coaching & Mentorship:
- Provide coaching, guidance, and supervision to junior team members to enhance their performance and development.
- Role model key behaviours and demonstrate the firm’s values in day-to-day work.
Firm Development:
- Contribute to the general management and development of the firm by participating in firm-wide initiatives and projects.
- Build and maintain a strong network of contacts, referrers, and business partners, using CRM tools to record client activity.
Continuous Development:
- Actively seek opportunities to develop your technical expertise and personal effectiveness.
- Stay updated with developments in commercial litigation law and ensure compliance with the SRA’s learning and development requirements.
Essential Experience:
- 4-6 years PQE in Commercial Litigation
- Strong academic background and proven technical expertise in litigation
- Proven business development and client management skills
- Experience managing a caseload of commercial disputes
- Excellent planning, organisational, and time management skills
- Financial and commercial awareness
- Ability to supervise, mentor, and coach junior team members
- Strong project management and communication skills
