About the Opportunity
A well-established Liverpool city centre law firm is seeking a Family Solicitor to join its close-knit Family Department of around eight fee earners. This is a strong opportunity for a junior to mid-level solicitor (0-5 PQE) to gain hands-on experience across a mixed public and private family caseload within a supportive, collaborative team.

The Role
You will handle a varied family law caseload with a strong focus on public law children matters alongside private family work.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing a mixed caseload of care proceedings and public law children matters
- Handling private family matters including divorce and financial remedy cases
- Preparing cases and attending court hearings where required
- Instructing and working with counsel, local authorities, CAFCASS, and other professionals
- Delivering clear, empathetic, and practical advice to clients
- Maintaining strong file management and compliance standards
- Working collaboratively within a small, supportive team
- Sharing caseloads and providing mutual support across the department where required
The team structure allows flexibility in workload distribution and encourages a hands-on, team-based approach.
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- 0-5 years’ PQE in family law
- Experience in public law care proceedings (strongly preferred)
- Exposure to private family work, including divorce and financial remedy
- Confidence with advocacy and court attendance
- Strong client care and communication skills
- A proactive, resilient, and empathetic approach
- Ability to manage a busy caseload with appropriate supervision
Working Arrangement
- Strong preference for office-based working (4-5 days per week)
