Job Title: Legal Director – Public Liability
Location: Manchester (3 days office / 2 days remote)
Salary: Competitive – Dependent on Experience (DOE)

About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Legal Director to join a leading and highly regarded Public Liability team based in Manchester. This is a senior leadership role suited to a commercially astute and technically strong litigator who is looking to play a strategic role within a growing practice.

Working on a hybrid basis (3 days in the Manchester office and 2 days remote), you will lead complex, high-value public liability matters while contributing to team development, client relationship management, and overall departmental strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a caseload of complex and high-value public liability claims
  • Provide strategic oversight and technical guidance on litigated matters
  • Supervise and mentor senior associates, associates, and junior team members
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with insurer and corporate clients
  • Contribute to business development initiatives and client growth strategies
  • Support operational management, financial performance, and case profitability
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and internal risk procedures
  • Represent clients in negotiations, mediations, and court proceedings where required

About You

  • Qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive (8+ years PQE preferred)
  • Significant experience handling defendant public liability claims
  • Proven leadership and team management experience
  • Strong commercial awareness and client relationship skills
  • Excellent technical knowledge of litigation procedures and CPR
  • A strategic mindset with the ability to drive team performance and growth
  • Confident communicator with strong negotiation and advocacy skills
