Our client is seeking a Liaison Assistant. The ideal candidate will be someone that has been a legal secretary in a law firm who wants a fresh challenge and working in a collaborative way.

Role Objective

The Liaison Assistant will be a hard-working professional able to undertake a variety of office and case management support tasks and work diligently under pressure. The primary role of the liaison assistant is to provide direct support to the consultant solicitors to enable them to operate at optimum efficiency. This will include but will not be limited to the main responsibilities given below. The liaison assistant is expected to use a high degree of self-management and initiative.

Key Tasks

1. Deal with the administration for the Consultant Solicitors.
2. Work as part of a Liaison Team managing the requirements of Consultant Solicitors on their matters.
3. Deal with the compliance work on file for Consultant Solicitors.
4. Opening files, preparing client care letters and assisting with the compliance of the AML regulations.
5. Undertake photocopying tasks.
6. Prepare correspondence and documents through audio-typing and word processing.
7. Administer filing which will include daily filing and the opening, closing, storage and retrieval of client files in accordance with the detailed procedures contained in the office manual.
8. Prepare the conference room for meetings as necessary and for the tidying and clearance of the room at the end of the meeting.
9. Deal with incoming daily post.
10. Prepare outgoing post for dispatch.
11. Take franked post to the Post Office.
12. Act as relief telephonist/receptionist.
13. Assist with filing.
14. Assist with file reviews.
15. Dealing with file closing process.

Required Knowledge

Legal Assistants are often the first person a client comes into contact with when approaching a firm. They therefore need to have exceptional communication and customer service skills. In order to excel at their job they must have both the knowledge to be able to answer queries that are directed to them, as well as the ability to deal with queries in a professional and confident manner. People that come from a customer service or retail background excel at this aspect of the role having had a large amount of experience working with the public.

Other Requirements

Someone that has worked in a law firm is desirable but not completely necessary. Someone that has some compliance knowledge is also desirable but again not necessary. It is an office-based role.

Salary & Other Benefits

Range from £21,000 per annum to £23,000 per annum. Someone at the £23,000 is someone that has worked in a law firm with many years of experience working as a legal secretary, receptionist or legal assistant. Someone without that experience will be at the entry level position of £21,000 per annum.
