Simpson Judge Scored £4,300 for local charity in Business Fives England National Final!

Having placed runner-up in the Business Fives qualifying regional event in Preston, Simpson Judge booked a spot in the Summer Season 2023 England National Finals hosted in Manchester on Tuesday 24th October.

Adorned in the striking new Simpson Judge Football kit, the team while quietly confident in their ability and talent in the squad with several playing at semi-pro level or having been products of academy football teams in their youth. They were cautiously optimistic as they hadn’t qualified in top spot and as the largest Business Fives event to date that there were 46 companies in attendance from across the country all with the same ambition to win the prestigious title of England National Champions.

The event did not disappoint, reflecting the intense competition, camaraderie, and a steadfast commitment to charitable giving that the season has delivered. A staggering total of 945 goals across 128 matches, that’s an average of 7 goals a match, highlighted the sheer passion and talent of all the participating teams.

Simpson Judge’s Team demonstrating their footballing talent and dedication to their chosen charity, the Boat House Youth Children’s Charity secured a place in the Champions League Final. The final was fitting of the day with a tightly contested battle between Simpson Judge and Alexander & Co., with individual brilliance and flair on display with 2 out of the 3 goals of the 3-1 win being scored by Captain Ric Seear.

Not only securing the Champions League title for Simpson Judge but also the substantial £4,300 donation from the Business Fives Charity Pot. Which will undoubtedly make a significant difference to the charity’s mission, to work with children and young people from socio-economically deprived communities across Blackpool, to help tackle the challenges they are experiencing.

“I would like to share my thanks to Simpson Judge for their donation of £4,300, which they raised through a recent Football Tournament. This will contribute towards the continual development of our work with young people.”  Laurance Hancock, Chief Executive Officer, The Boathouse Youth

Collective efforts across the Business Five events this season have contributed to an outstanding fundraising total of over £85K, benefiting a variety of local and national charities.

Adding to the excitement of the day was the esteemed Event Ambassador and guest speaker, Iain Dowie, a former professional and international footballer, and Premier League Manager. His presence and insightful perspectives from his football career and management experiences added value to an already fantastic event. The icing on the cake for the Simpson Judge Captain Ric Seear, will certainly be being named and presented the Man of the Match trophy in the Champions League Final by Iain Dowie, with his outstanding performance contributing to the team’s triumph.

“The Business Fives Finals was incredible to be a part of, not just because we came away victorious as England National Champions, but because it brought the business community, competition, football, and charity together. Obviously, it was highly competitive at times with everyone coming together to showcase their footballing talents, myself included! But the lasting feeling of the day is the positive impact we have made on our chosen charity. The Boathouse Youth, as a community-based charity making a difference at local level, rely heavily on donations from members of the public to operate, so to be able to deliver a donation of £4,300 is just brilliant!”
Said Ric Seear, Simpson Judge.

“Bring on Winter Season 2024, we will be back to defend our title!” Added Seear.
